Sacha Baron Cohen, Will Ferrell Reunite for Sherlock Holmes

For his next production, Judd Apatow has once again reached into his bag of funny men to decide on casting. This time around, Will Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen - rivals in 2006’s Talledega Nights - will be working as a team on a comedy about Sherlock Holmes.
In the currently-untitled project, the Borat star will play the famous literary detective. Meanwhile, Ferrell will take on the role of Watson, his crime-solving assistant. The movie will be penned by Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder) for Columbia Pictures. No director has so far been assigned.
Although a target date hasn’t yet been determined, Apatow’s film could face comparisons to another upcoming project. Warner Bros. has plans for its own adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s books; that version will be helmed by RocknRolla‘s Guy Ritchie.

‘Angels & Demons’ Set February Start

Yes, there were a couple things about the movie version of Dan Brown’s controversial and critically acclaimed novel The Da Vinci Code that didn’t quite match up, but does that mean it wasn’t a good movie? Yeah, Tom Hanks looked kind of dumb with long hair, and his Boston accent was kind of lame, but it still wasn’t a bad film. That said, we should all be glad that Akiva Goldsman is working over time on the script for the film’s sequel (and novel’s prequel), Angels & Demons, to get it done before that pesky writer’s strike.
Ron Howard will return to direct the sequel which will begin filming in February under the Columbia Pictures banner. And yes, for those of you who are dying to know, Tom Hanks and his academic mullet will be back as well.

Superbad Gets Supergood Reviews

If you’ve somehow managed to miss the Superbad trailers that pepper every available hour of broadcasting, you just don’t watch enough TV. Superbad has a super-huge advertising budget, and no expense has been spared to show funny one-liners to TV viewing audiences. But…is it worth all the hype? Knocked Up star Seth Rogen co-wrote the flick and appears onscreen as a hilarious, out of shape police officer. Early reviews say that Superbad is indeed hilarious – but lacks the sweet sentiment that made Knocked Up such a hit.
